Banana Pastry

This is a recipe which is best served cool but not cold. It can be served as an "everyday" sweet or pudding but also can be served on special occassions.
For US to UK equivalents see this rough guide

Recipe Ingredients:

  • Puff pastry - 1 sheet
  • Bananas sliced - 8
  • Flour
  • Chestnuts boiled - 2 cups
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Water - 1/2 cup

Method:

Take a sauce pan and add sugar and water to it. Make it boil on a medium heat. Boil the mixture until it turns in to amber colour. Take it out from the heat. Take a baking sheet and place the puff pastries. Make a place in the center of each pastry to add the fruit mixture. Add chest nuts and banana pieces to each of them. Add caramel to each of them and sprinkle sugar on each one.

Pre-heat the oven at 400 F and bake the pastries for 20 min. The bananas will become soft and the pastry will become golden brown. Take the pastries from the oven and keep them in fridge or allow to cool naturally if time permits until ready to serve.

As with all recipes which involve cooking and baking a sensible approach must be taken especially when dealing with warm or hot (temperature) ingredients. If you are unable to take due care, please do not attempt to make any of these recipes. All recipes are tried at your own risk.
