Lebanese Balls with Meat and Vegetables

This is a great recipe for meat balls made with a spicy sauce. Pomegranate adds its tangy flavour and taste, while cinnamon and mint will make your dinner party go "wow" over this main course.

For US to UK equivalents see this rough guide

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 grated onion
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tspn ground allspice
  • 2 tbps pomegranate juice or concentrate
  • ground cinnamon
  • ground dried mint
  • 1 cup water

Method:

In a bowl combine meat ground meat with onion paste, salt, pepper, cinnamon, and allspice. Mix all ingredients thoroughly and make balls. Leave them aside.

Add pomegranate juice. Cover with the lid and simmer for 15 mins on medium heat.

Serve hot with rice.

As with all recipes which involve cooking and baking a sensible approach must be taken especially when dealing with warm or hot (temperature) ingredients. If you are unable to take due care, please do not attempt to make any of these recipes. All recipes are tried at your own risk.
