Peas & Prok Soup

-
For US to UK equivalents see this rough guide

Recipe Ingredients:

  • Peas - 2 cups
  • Water
  • Finely Chopped Onions - 2
  • Pork - 1 piece (1/2 kg)
  • Mojaram Powder - 1/4 tbsp
  • Thyme - 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method:

Boil the dried peas in water on high heat for 10 mins. Turn off the heat and soak the peas in the hot water for 1-2 hours. After 2 hours add the chopped onions, pepper, salt pork, thyme, marjoram and boil it on medium heat until the peas are cooked. Add one whole onion. Once the peas are cooked remove the whole onion and the salt pork form the cooking bowl and cut the pork in to pieces. Ready to serve. Serve the soup in a bowl along with the pork slices or serve the soup alone. Garnish the soup with soya sauce if desired.

As with all recipes which involve cooking and baking a sensible approach must be taken especially when dealing with warm or hot (temperature) ingredients. If you are unable to take due care, please do not attempt to make any of these recipes. All recipes are tried at your own risk.
